4th Grade Students Prepare for Mission Trip
The 4th grade students at Evergreen have been busy learning about California history, in particular the missions built by the Spanish under the direction of Father Junipero Serra. One of the highlights of their studies was the students creating a model of one of the California Missions. Some examples are shown here.

Some interesting facts about Mission San Antonio de Padua are:
- it is the first mission to have fired tile wood
- it is one of two missions in California that are in its' natural environment
- it was founded on July 14, 1771 by Father Junipero Serra
- it is still used today as a Catholic church

My mission was a lot of hard work, but it was nice. I learned something about it. It was better to make it than buying one. It took 3 weeks to make. I made it with real trees ans paper bells.

Making my mission was kind of hard. It took me one or two days to finish it. If you ever do one you are going to have to buy a lot of stuff so good luck!
