Evergreen School Mission and Beliefs

Evergreen’s mission is to provide a positive and challenging learning environment that motivates all students, teachers, parents and community stakeholders to be lifelong learners.
Beliefs
• Student learning is the main priority for our school.
• Teachers and students will be actively engaged in the continuous improvement in student achievement.
• All students can learn.
• Teachers are expected to try varied instructional approaches to meet the needs of different types of learners.
• Teachers, students, parents and administrators are responsible and accountable for academic achievement.
• The school will be viewed as a community center involving regular day, after school, and evening parent education classes.
• The school, as a community of learners, will provide educational opportunities that will challenge all students and promote the pursuit of life long learning.
School Goals for Improving Student Achievement:
Central Goal
The central goal at Evergreen Elementary is to
• Improve student learning
• Increase API and AYP scores.
• Increase scores with each district level test
The following goals have been set to move toward the central goal.
Goal #1:
Increase student’s scores on writing prompts by placing and instructional
focus on forming clear and coherent sentences and paragraphs that develop a central idea, as appropriate to grade level.
Goal #2:
Increase SAFTI/Math scores with a focus on advancing 5% of students in
each proficiency band to the next band, as a means of improving
Mathematics scores on the CST. An instructional focus will be placed on
basic math facts.
Goal #3:
To reduce the suspension rate by 10% and maintain a student attendance
rate of 95% or higher.
